So the much anticipated launch of the latest Apple idea is here and it is confirmed as the iPad. There's a lot that would still be nice (and I'm sure will make the version two model) but the unit packs a lot of features not least of which is the custom-built processor. With a tip of the cap to Woz and his way of thinking of a computer that will do what he wants it to, Apple have again decided to build their own processor which matches the rest of the system perfectly. I'd love to get a unit on demo for a few weeks and see how much it integrates into my life and how it can be used for a plethora of activities. I can REALLY see the benefit of units like this for education and I hope they offer some tasty discounts for schools in an attempt to push these as a replacement for the textbook and exercise book. Couple one of these babies with a dock, keyboard and mouse and you've got me sold. I'll take one please.
Currently trying to resus my G4 mac with a latest Debian disk in the hope I can get my hackbox up and running again to do some tinkering with.
Watched Die Hard 4 finally... not that it's taken me a couple of years to getting around to it or anything, but I see what people were on about when they reckoned I was like Warlock. Yes, I like my lair. Not lair enough at the moment. Really need a big screen mounted on the wall, lots of metal and chipboard shelving and suchlike.
Sick of trying to keep seven and ten year old hardware working at the moment. It's old, it's dead, get over it people - let it go to the great silicon smelter in the sky and stop winging that it's slow and you can't do X,Y and Z with it. I know. I can't change that because I have no money to - Why keep complaining about it, just figure out a way to get 180,000 pounds and I'll renovate the stock that should have been done long ago by my predecessors.
